LOOK FOR GOOD THINGS!
Take a look at the HAPPIEST people you know and you will notice something.
They haven't had the EASIEST lives!
Happy people have usually suffered and struggled MORE than most.
But in the process, they have learned to look for GOOD THINGS in life.
And have you noticed this ...
When we look for good things in situations - or people - we FIND them.
When we look for bad things, we FIND them.
So it's not changing your situation that makes you happier.
It's changing your THINKING!
If you go looking for faults in your job or your mother or your wife, you will find plenty.
Some people spend their life looking for faults -
and then they tell you, "I'm just being REALISTIC!"
It is not realistic!
It is NEGATIVE!
Happy people continually ask themselves,
"What is good about this situation?"
EXAMPLE: You are stuck in traffic. You ask yourself, "What's GOOD about it?"
* You have time to listen to your favourite CD's.
* You can plan your day.
* It's better than walking!
EXAMPLE: You are short of money. You ask, "What's GOOD about having no cash?"
* You learn to appreciate things that money can't buy.
* You become more determined to succeed.
* You find out who your friends are!
You might say, "That's nuts! It's kidding myself."
Not so!
Looking for good things is a key to happiness.
So your mission for the next 24 hours?
In every situation, look for GOOD THINGS.
It may be hard at first, but it becomes automatic.
As "looking for positives" becomes a habit,
you will become happier and happier.

I think being content is another key to happiness. As the chinese saying goes, "zhi1 zhu2 chang2 le4"...when you are content with the situation you are in now, you will feel happy.
Erm...but how true is this? It really depends, highly on your EQ. Not everyone is able to be content, as we are taught to always try our best and outdo ourselves. Not many people are able to slow down the pace, and enjoy what they are now. The more they get, the more they demand for something. Typical human's attitude, or i should say, the greed in human. A sad thing, huh?
Life itself is short, instead of trying to climb towards the highest peak in the shortest time, why don't slow down the pace, and see and enjoy the scenary on the way to the peak? Yes, you might not reach the final goal, but then, your life isn't merely meant to achieve goals and be "successful", as defined by the majority of people, getting good grades, completing a degree, or even master and PhD, getting a well-paid job and being rich, right?
Try to note that, the outcome of whether or not being able to achieve goals isn't that important, what's important is the experiences gained during the process towards achieving the outcome.
P/S: Am I crapping again? I don't know...This suppose to be the way I view my life, and the way I want my life to be. But, again, am I able to have such a life, being content with whatever I have now? I don't know. Too many other factors might change my perspective, and too often a time, the environment and the people around you will exert pressure on you, and YOU, are YOU going to succumb to the pressure, or still hold firm to what you believe?

ren jie!! I "5 body reach ground"! :D wah.. after reading ur comments on both of my posts, I am so impressed by ur theories. I fully agree with you that life is not measured by how near we are from the 'peak'. Every person can have different definition of success. Well.. I think being a JPA scholar and study abroad is already something quite successful.. haha.. We are really more lucky than many people. Yeah.. we should always look for positive things in our lives. I try thinking positively this few days after I read the article and I find it really helpful. If you can't change the situation, change your mind. That's what makes u happier. Cool idea! :D Wow.. it's 12am dy, I should sleep. Tmr 7am must go out!
